It was in a funeral home. A modern one. And people are in small groups in their own little functions, mourning.
One group was singing a very sad song. And i felt it. I felt the sadness even though i only stood close to them. I felt their lost.
Yet, when it was time that they rolled out the coffin for our family. We only stood still. Still. No mourning, no singing, no praying. We just stand there...

This is happiness. I am beaming inside, I see the world full of smiles instead of sorrow, I see babies everywhere with the sign of hope, I just see the world as a welcoming place.

I have always thought of Eid as depressing. Before flying, when I was in the States, and in anticipation of tomorrow, to me it is just a holiday. I feel like I have been through this before. The unknown. The fear. My life at risk.
But I also remembered, then, how hard i worked. How i threw out my life, how i sacrificed everything, everything except for working for my dream.
And here I am, living it, against all odds.
Now, the same situation, the same fear, the same unknown.
So, what do i do know?
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
